Mice & Gears of the Mind, GIF

Wanted to try something artsy with Pixel Art as the medium.

It can be seen different ways, but take the gears as ideas or concepts in the mind, and the mice as those who set them in motion. They can't support them all by themselves, so some ideas might fall down until some other mice appear and bring them back, with a fixed or similar gear. I tried to think of different mice with concepts like this in mind, as well as healthy / unhealthy relationships and dynamics.

I used 10 colours, 12 frames and around 90 working layers. (I didn't try to see how many I could merge without altering the animation, though, so each mouse/gear has it's own set of layers.)
